Re:Framed – Love N’ Peacetime

All of these below are ideas of where the main characters of All Quiet On The Western Front would go on a date post-war; it also includes the outfits for them and their miss. The places and outfits are all based on their personalities.

Albert Kropp – Germany Islands/bonfire

Kropp is a very smart individual and this is just the place that he can show off how smart he is while still having fun with his date. Kropp’s outfit is relaxed but still sophisticated, making him look friendly and intelligent. The lady’s outfit is cute and all her own.

Müller – Victoria Cafe

Müller, unlike the others always thought about what he would do after the war. Going to a coffee shop would be just the thing that Muller would want to do, because he seems like the guy that would want to forget about the war and have fun with his life. Muller’s outfit is comfortable and just right for the occasion.
The women’s outfit is a vintage-adorable combination. This doesn’t look like she tried too hard for him, but also not like she didn’t try at all.
The lovely couples drinks seem to think that they will be together for a long time.

Kat- Kaiser Friedrich Museum

Kat is the oldest of the group and an art museum fits his maturity perfectly. In the book it tells you that Kat has a wife and kids and this art museum is just the place for them to go and be together and just be able to relax and enjoy each other’s company. Kat’s outfit is what I would picture a man of his experiences to dress like.  He has gone through more than any of the others in their group.
The wife’s outfit is classy and beautiful. Kat will stop in his tracks when he sees her.

Paul Baumer- Castle Heidelburg and Gardens

In this book you learn that before the war, Paul had a love for all the good and natural things in life. You also learn during the book that Paul is quite a thinker. In this place Paul would be able to appreciate all the beauties around him(including his date) and be able to talk to her about all the things it brings to his mind. His outfit is casual and the colors are bright, perfect to go with the garden. He also brings a camera along so he can take pictures and look back on this as a good memory. The lucky lady’s outfit is cute and fits in perfectly with the date.

Tjaden – midsummer’s eve fair

Tjaden is quite a big eater and he also likes to have fun. What else would fit these better than a fair? His outfit is rugged and easy to clean if he gets a little messy when eating his food.
His date’s outfit is very flattering and matches Tjaden’s, which is adorable.

This is a poem we wrote that went with this post perfectly and we felt that it should be posted along side all of this.

Love on the Battlefield

I feel the whirl of the vortex sucking me slowly, irresistibly, inescapable into itself.

It is stronger than everything.

It wipes out sensibilities.

It shall protect me.

To no man does the earth mean so much as to the soldier

She is

His only friend,

His mother,

His brother.

One cannot explain it.

In our hearts, we are close to one another

I love him.

May I never forget you.

We dont talk much,

But I believe we have a more complete communion of one another than even lovers have.

One cannot explain it.

Things become quieter.

Invisible,

It is everywhere,

Between heaven and earth

It rolls on immeasurable.

At last!

We can bear almost anything,

but still it is not the end.

One man goes down

Slowly, humbly, sinks to the ground.

One cannot explain it.

Long – drawn sigh still hangs on the air.

I begin to lose consciousness.

Don’t Faint!

I open my eyes.

I stare in the face of.

I think of nothing but this.

no pain

 One cannot explain it.
