Hello everyone. Hope its all well wherever you are.
This past week all the the juniors at my school to the Smarter Balance Assesment (the one that will replace the STAR test, because of common core). The testing was done over two days and we used chromebooks instead of the traditional pencil and paper. When the testing started, I wasn’t exactly excited. With all the other tests and other things being done for school at the moment, one more being added wasn’t happily accepted. I did like the testing being done on computers because writing long answers went faster. Though, they made us write long answers for math questions as well as English. Do we really need to explain how we got a certain answer to a math question? Either we know how to get the right answer and we got it or we don’t.
To say simply, I did not like the test, but if its in place of the STAR test I think I prefer one to the other. What I want to know is why the STAR testing was not good enough for common core?
Do any of you know? If so please do tell. And if you have an opinion on this please do tell.
