Everything Ends

Hello everybody!

We are coming to the end of the school year and with that, mine and Gold Glitter Pump’s project has ended. In total we raised $207! I had a lot of fun doing this project, and it was even better that I got to do it with my best friend. I learned that you really have to plan out when you are going to do things, and you have to stick those dates, or else nothing will ever get done. I also learned how to deal with other people in a polite way, even if they are extremely rude to you.

All in all I had a lot of fun with this project, and I might even continue doing it. I guess that is a really good plus to this project; that since these projects are supposed to help others and give our point of view on things, they don’t have to stop when the project is due.

Well I hope that all of you that are coming up to the end of the school year have a good time! Good luck on finals!

And I am going to put this photo in because it is from my all time favorite tv show, and it has something to do with this post. Hope you like it!

A Kind Soul

Hello everyone! Hope your weekend was great!

This last Friday, Gold Glitter Pumps and I made and sold more banana bread. In total we have made $154. Woohoo! When we started it out I was a little worried that we weren’t going to sell a lot because it was Friday at 4:00 and I was thinking that most people would still be heading home from work. Thankfully there were plenty of people home. There was this one really nice house that we walked up to and when we told the person what we were selling and what it was for he said no. He said that he doesn’t eat anything that people sell for charities but he donates. We said ok and started walking away because the way he said it it seemed like he didn’t want any. He then called us back and gave us $5 and didn’t take any bread. This is the second time in this whole process that someone has done something like that. Every time this happens I am blown away by how kind people can be. It makes me happy to know that they care about others and they don’t need anything in return. I hope that there are many people in the world like this.

We’re off to Sell Banana Bread!

Hello everybody!!!! How have you all been? Hopefully wonderful.

A couple of weekends ago Gold Glitter Pumps and I went around selling banana bread for our project and this past Saturday I went around and sold more. So far we have raised $107. If you don’t know what we are raising money for it is explained in earlier posts. We plan to be selling for the rest of this month and maybe a little into March. In this post I am going to post the recipe for the banana bread and so far we have gotten amazing feedback on this bread.

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 egg

1 cup mashed bananas (about 3 medium)

3/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup cooking oil

1 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel (optional) (I don’t put this in)

1/2 cup chopped walnut or pecans (optional)

1. Grease the bottom and 1/2 inch sides of an 8x4x2-inch loaf pan; set aside. In a medium mixing bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Make a well in the center of dry mixture, set aside.

2. In another bowl combine eggs, bananas (mash them first), sugar, cooking oil, and if desirable lemon peel. Add egg mixture all at once to dry mixture. Stir just till moistened (batter should be lumpy). Fold in nuts.

3. Spoon batter into the prepared pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven 50 to 55 minutes or till a wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in a pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove loaf from pan; cool on rack. Wrap and store overnight before slicing. Makes 1 loaf.

I hope that you all enjoy this banana bread!

Making Progress…Finally

IMG_0904

Hola peoples!!!! How was your weekend? Hope it was fantastic!!!!!!

Well anyway I just wanted to tell you the Gold Glitter Pumps and I have finally started making progress on our project, which is good because procrastinating was really starting to stress me out. So what we did was on Friday we made 12 loaves of banana bread (which were really hard not to eat because they smelled really good). Then on Saturday we went around the neighborhood trying to sell them. We made $52!!! Woohoo!!!! This one extremely nice woman gave us $20 and when I went to give her her change she said no and to give it to the cancer research facility. This was amazing and GGP and I were really touched by it. The woman said she did it because her mother and brother died from cancer; while that made me really sad it also made me happy (not in a sick wrong kind of way). I was happy because I felt that what we were doing was really making an impact in peoples lives.

We plan to do the same thing next weekend and hopefully we will make more money. Although next weekend is the weekend before finals so i am probably gonna be so stressed out….hopefully it will be a nice break from studying.

P.S. Do you guys want me to post the recipe for the banana bread?

Progress #3

Hello people of internet land! How is everyone? Good? Good! If your not doing good then you should grab a warm blanket a cup of hot coco and your favorite movie =)

Anyway this post is about the progress of Gold Glitter Pump’s and mine project. Sadly, our project isn’t turning out to what we expected. We ┬áhad the google doc up and made posters but people just weren’t signing up for the food competition. It was really sad, we had gotten so excited and then it didn’t happen. But have no fear! We have come up with a new idea. We are going to make food and sell it and all the proceeds are still going to Trekstock. I will try to post pictures and recipes. Maybe you could tell me what your favorite baked goods are? Here are some of mine:

1. Fudge

2. Banana Bread

3. Cookies

4. Brownies (not too rich)

Progress on Project #2

Spongebob-Procrastination

Hello everyone! How are you? Hope everything is good =)

Now to talk about the English project. Since the last post Gold Glitter Pumps and I have come up with tentative dates (you can see them by going to the Eat to Cure page and clicking the link there). We also are trying to come up with a good poster design and get them out soon enough. In this project we have realized that we are huge procrastinators, but most of the time we don’t mean to. We find something else that is due sooner than this so we do that, and before we know it this due date has come and we don’t have a lot done. Well, I can’t really complain, I would rather learn this now than later in life. There isn’t really much else we have done, so until next time!

Progress on Project #1

Hello!

I know that at first I said that I was doing the “Books to Movies” thing but Gold Glitter Pumps and I realized that with both of us doing separate projects we were still helping each other out a ton! So what we decided to do was we would both work on gold Glitter Pump’s idea together (if you are not sure what it is we have a page about it on this blog. It is at the top and called Eat to Cure. Go check it out). So far we have a Facebook page, a Twitter page, a Pinterest account, and a page on this blog for the event. We are both really excited about this and really looking forward to it. The one thing I am scared about though, is that no one will show up. But you know what? When things like that happen we have to be able to pick our selves up fast and be able to improvise to still get what we need to get done. In light of that, Gold Glitter Pump and I have agreed that if no one shows up we will be making food and selling it and still giving all the profits to Trekstock. I am really hoping this all works out.

Please go check out all the stuff we have up and find out what this is all about. If you have anything to say about this we would love to hear it. Thank you so much!
