What Was That All About?

You are officially almost as dizzy and confused as I am while reading Catcher in the Rye.  I don’t really have a strong opinion as in I don’t loathe it but neither do I adore it, I’m just indifferent to it.  It is, however, confusing me because I don’t understand why Holden does some of the things he does and he will often barely explain something and then say something like “Well, I don’t know how to explain it but that’s it.” or “You know what I mean.” and he is very vague and it makes you feel a little crazy sometimes.  I am really hoping that the book ends with everything making sense and I understand why the author decided to write this book this way because otherwise it would just be a waste of time that I can be spending on studying for my finals.

Beyond that, Catcher in the Rye doesn’t seem all that special to me and my friends either love it or hate it and some even think it has funny parts, which are completely invisible to me.  You know that feeling you get when you’re doing something and you can tell that it’s going to be something magical or make sense in the end and make you happy that you did it, well, I almost feel that way about this book but I’m trying to expect the worst and hope for the best so that I’m not angry or disappointed when it ends and I’m left there wondering what the point of all that was.

To show you how incredibly lax and seemingly useless the story is, Holden failed at a private high school or some sort, for the nth time, and he is trying to avoid his parents during his Christmas Break until they get the letter that he failed so that he doesn’t have to tell them himself.  However, Holden hasn’t even gotten home yet and I only have 40 more pages in the book.  I hope I get a happy surprise and if not then I really hope it  brings joy or deep thought to others because it sure isn’t doing that for me, and that’s okay because I have other books that are special to me.

Now that I have thoroughly made you dizzy, told you a brief synopsis of Catcher in the Rye without giving anything away, and giving you my perspective on reading it, I hope you go do something that gives you a happy surprise or something to the affect that my books have on me, “You know?” hahahahaha.

Have a good day everybody.

Everything Ends

Hello everybody!

We are coming to the end of the school year and with that, mine and Gold Glitter Pump’s project has ended. In total we raised $207! I had a lot of fun doing this project, and it was even better that I got to do it with my best friend. I learned that you really have to plan out when you are going to do things, and you have to stick those dates, or else nothing will ever get done. I also learned how to deal with other people in a polite way, even if they are extremely rude to you.

All in all I had a lot of fun with this project, and I might even continue doing it. I guess that is a really good plus to this project; that since these projects are supposed to help others and give our point of view on things, they don’t have to stop when the project is due.

Well I hope that all of you that are coming up to the end of the school year have a good time! Good luck on finals!

And I am going to put this photo in because it is from my all time favorite tv show, and it has something to do with this post. Hope you like it!

That’s Enough

We still aren’t don’t with The Great Gatsby in class and I only found that out after my English teacher thought it would be a good idea to have a discussion and read an article about it.  We already had to do the BRAWL and that was enough, more than enough actually.  I would have preferred to just have taken a test on the book instead of doing this but I am in AP so what he says goes.  I would just like to politely disagree with what he says though.  At least the year is half over and I can read more AP books for the AP exam next year; fun all around me.  I think the more we talk about the book the more I don’t like it.  It’s like setting your alarm to wake you up to your favorite song because you will hate that song really quickly since that’s what drives you to get up from your pleasant dreams and comfy sleep and wake up.  I’m sure there are benefits to discussing and answering questions about The Great Gatsby in class but I think you can only analyze something so much before you don’t see any new connections or points of interests.  It’s the same reason why it’s a good idea to have someone else read your essay or whatever before you turn it in since you have read it so many times that it’s hard for you to see the grammar errors and helpful hints.

It’s important to know when to move on and when it’s worth it to try something new.

Starting Fresh

Unknown

Hello everyone! Hope you are all having a magnificent day!

Well, today was the first day of the new semester and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Nobody was stressing about their grade or finals (though some were still upset about the grade they got last semester) and everybody was excited that we got a fresh start. I think that it is really great that we get to start over again in the second semester. We now know how to exceed in our classes and hopefully how not to stress for our classes (pretty sure that I don’t have this one down). Well hopefully this mood will last for awhile.

How are your fresh starts going? Any interesting ones? Do tell.

The Most Stressful Week of the Year

final_exam

Hello everyone!! How are you? Well I hope its all going good.

Anywho, this week for me is finals week. So much fun(that was sarcasm in case you didn’t pick it up). I am stressing out; mostly for my two AP finals and chemistry final. I am just not good at science. I am trying so hard to study in an efficient way, but you know what, whenever its the most important to study thats when there are so many distractions. Ugh!

Well anyway I hope you all do well on your finals if you have any. Wish me luck on mine!

B.R.A.W.L.

Don’t worry, nobody is getting hurt in this fight because it’s for english!  Of course it is, hahaha.  This, the B.R.A.W.L., is when we all make questions about a book, in this case The Great Gatsby, and then you answer the ones that the teacher chooses and on the set up day each person in your group has to be able to answer any one of the questions.  It’s like a socratic seminar but with a twist because you get a specific question and everyone as to talk.  I did this last year also and it went well but we did multiple B.R.A.W.L.s since the book was The Tale of Two Cities and it’s quite a big book.  The questions do take a long time but it also helps you understand the book more and we get to do this instead of taking a final so I can’t complain!

Mention this to your teacher if you are sick of doing socratic seminars and want to try it.  It can only help anyways.  If you have a better suggestion please tell me.

Good luck on finals everybody!

Making Progress…Finally

IMG_0904

Hola peoples!!!! How was your weekend? Hope it was fantastic!!!!!!

Well anyway I just wanted to tell you the Gold Glitter Pumps and I have finally started making progress on our project, which is good because procrastinating was really starting to stress me out. So what we did was on Friday we made 12 loaves of banana bread (which were really hard not to eat because they smelled really good). Then on Saturday we went around the neighborhood trying to sell them. We made $52!!! Woohoo!!!! This one extremely nice woman gave us $20 and when I went to give her her change she said no and to give it to the cancer research facility. This was amazing and GGP and I were really touched by it. The woman said she did it because her mother and brother died from cancer; while that made me really sad it also made me happy (not in a sick wrong kind of way). I was happy because I felt that what we were doing was really making an impact in peoples lives.

We plan to do the same thing next weekend and hopefully we will make more money. Although next weekend is the weekend before finals so i am probably gonna be so stressed out….hopefully it will be a nice break from studying.

P.S. Do you guys want me to post the recipe for the banana bread?

What to do. . .What to do

Blog

Well, I’m back in school from Christmas break and I’m really dreading finals.  But besides that, Navy Blue Dress and I get to make loads of cookie, brownies, breads, and other things and sell.  I can’t wait for this weekend, when we plan to do most of it and then start selling.  We’ll probably eat most of them before we can even sell them, knowing us. hahahahaha.  So, we have something really fun to do to help stress during finals but it does add some since it takes time from homework and studying.  We do need to figure out what we are going to make though.  I’m really happy to get to look through all of my Pinterest recipes and figure out, together, what we will make and also relieved that we can choose them ourselves.  We may want to do too many though and might have to roll or flip for certain ones to stay or go.

Hopefully you will give us some great recipes, tips, howdy-dos, and helpful advice.

Have a fabulous day!
